ExactTradie

How ExactTradie works

A job board where the work is posted openly and tradies compete on price, timing and reputation. Here's what happens on each side, and what we do in the middle.

If you need a job done

You post the job once. That means a short description, a few photos, the suburb, when you need it by, and a budget guide if you have one. Jobs that need a licensed trade are marked, so only tradies with that licence can bid on them.

From there the bids come to you. Each bid shows the price, when the tradie can start, any notes they've added, and their rating from previous ExactTradie jobs. You can ask questions in the job thread before you decide.

When you hire someone, they get your contact details and you get theirs. Once the job is done you mark it complete and leave a rating. That's it.

What it costs

Nothing to post a job and nothing to hire. The price you agree with the tradie is the price you pay them.

If you're a tradie

Set up your profile once with your trade, licence number, ABN, service area and the kind of work you want. We check the licence against the state register. After that you see a feed of jobs in your trade and your area, filtered however you like.

Bidding is free. Put in a fixed price, an hourly rate or a range, with a start date and any notes. If you're hired, you get the customer's details and the job moves into your schedule. If not, you've lost nothing.

Your rating is built from completed jobs only, so it reflects the work, not how much you spend on advertising.

What it costs

A small percentage of the job value, charged only when a job you've won is marked complete. No subscription, no lead fees, no charge for bids that don't win. The exact rate will be published before launch.

What we do in the middle

Licence and ABN checks

We verify trade licences against the relevant state or territory register, and ABNs against the ABR, before a tradie can bid on licensed work.

Matching by trade and area

Tradies only see jobs they can actually do, in places they actually go. Customers only get bids from people qualified for the work.

Ratings that mean something

Only the customer on a completed job can rate it. No bought reviews, no reviews from jobs that never happened.

A record of everything

The job description, photos, bids and messages stay on the job. If there's a disagreement later, both sides can see what was agreed.

Contact details when it matters

Customers aren't spammed by everyone who saw the job. Tradies aren't handing their number to people who are just curious.

Built for the phone

Post a job from the kitchen or bid from the ute. The app is designed around a phone screen first because that's where the work happens.

Common questions

When does it launch?

We're opening up area by area so that every posted job has tradies ready to bid. Join the waitlist and we'll email you when your postcode goes live.

Which trades can sign up?

At launch: electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, tilers, plasterers, roofers, concreters, landscapers, air conditioning, fencing and general handymen. We'll add more based on what gets posted.

Does a tradie have to be licensed?

For work that legally requires a licence, yes, and we check it. For unlicensed work like fencing, landscaping or general handyman jobs, an ABN and identity check is enough.

Is the lowest bid automatically chosen?

No. The customer chooses. They can see price, start date, notes and rating, and pick whoever suits them best.

Do customers pay through the app?

Not at launch. You agree a price on the job, and payment happens between you and the tradie as usual. In-app payment with escrow is planned for a later release.

Can a business post jobs?

Yes. Landlords, property managers, strata and small businesses can post jobs the same way, and can keep a list of tradies they've worked with before.

Get an invite when we open.

We're letting people in gradually so every job posted has tradies ready to price it. Tell us which side you're on and we'll send an invite when your area goes live.
